About Drew

Drew Dedo started playing drums when he was 3 years old.  Whether it was pots and pans, turning his block bucket upside down and using it as a drum, or taking the spoons and forks out, he was always trying to play.  On his 3rd birthday, his parents gave in and bought him his first drum set; however, this did not last very long.  The problem was not lack of interest, but instead it was playing the drum set too much and too hard.  The entire drum kit was destroyed within the first few months.  Later that year, he received his first "real" drum set on Christmas...the Adam's beginner set.  This was as real as you could get without owning one twice the size of a 3 year old.

Over the next few years, Drew continued to play, teaching himself how to play by ear and use the radio and record player as his musical tracks.  From this point, Drew took a few lessons off and on from kids at the local high school and also in his church.  It was then determined upon middle school that the drums were not going away, if anything, they were just getting stronger.

In the summer of his eighth grade year, Drew started lessons with a teacher who changed his life.  He was one of drummings best and his student track record proves it.  His name was Ronnie Benedict, and he was a jazz great, an incredible teacher, and truly became Drew's mentor and best friend.  Drew studied under Ronnie for 6 years, and then took over teaching for him as well.   During this time, Drew realized just how great he had it with an instructor who was not going to let anything just slide by.  After eight months of teaching, Ronnie passed away from a vicious cancer.  In the following months, Drew touched base with some of Ronnie's past students, and studied under Dom Famularo and Neil Grover.  In addition to studying with some of drumming's greatest, Drew is also endorsed by SilverFox and Grover Pro Percussion, and he is a loyal customer to  The Long Island Drum Center (LIDC).  If you find yourself looking for drums call Dennis and tell him Drew Dedo told you to call!

Drew has been out on the road playing with different bands since his junior year of high school.  He took to the road seriously with one band, Agent 99 of Gainesville, FL in 2003.  After touring and working the regional circuit of the East Coast for three years, Agent 99 decided to disband and move on in their separate ways.  In that time, Drew has been playing around South Florida, the Washington, DC and Virginia area, and now his recent move has taken him to Nashville, TN.  Here Drew is reaching out and getting connected with the touring and production scene, and he would like to be on the road by the first of the year.   One thing he tries to convey to anyone who is out there trying to make it, or working on becoming a great drummer is one thing:

"Play hard and keep practicing, your goals will be reached one stroke at a time!"
-Drew Dedo
